MALIBU, California — Residents and property owners navigating reconstruction after wildfire damage have another route for questions about transportation-related rebuilding requirements. Caltrans is holding free virtual open sessions every Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. through December 28, 2026, according to the City of Malibu’s fire-rebuild calendar.
Upcoming sessions and how to join
Listed November sessions include November 9, 16, 23 and 30. The city says the sessions began September 21 and continue on Mondays into late December. The meetings are intended for fire-rebuild applicants with questions or comments for Caltrans; the city does not publish an open meeting link on the event page.
To receive access instructions, applicants should contact the Malibu Rebuild Center by email at maliburecovers@malibucity.org or by telephone at 310-456-0470. The sessions are free.
What to prepare
Residents with property near Pacific Coast Highway or other transportation infrastructure can make the most of a session by preparing a brief description of the project, the parcel or location involved and a specific question about agency requirements. Participation does not replace the formal permitting process, and the city does not say that individual permits will be approved during the calls.
For Malibu Hills and surrounding communities, the recurring format offers an ongoing point of contact rather than requiring applicants to wait for a single public meeting. Verify session dates with the city, particularly around holidays.
